About Vic-mage
|
|
There are two ways to send a message across to the Consilium of Mages within Victoria.
The nexus of the communication is via a Magical Warded and Intelligent AI Computer Server located in the Consilium's Brighton Mansion.
Mages wishing to pass on a message may either send an email from an external computer or phone or use the computer terminals at the Mansion.
All messages are sent to subscribers and also displayed publicly at the Mansion on a large touch-screen LCD display in the computer room.
Describe what the basis of the list is:
The list is a combination of old style email mailing list as well as a highly secure computer system that is bolstered through the use of magic.
The AI mainframe is kept deep within a warded room beneath the mansion and can only be accessed by recognised mages of the Melbourne Consilium.
Most characters who are members of the Melbourne Consilium should be aware of the computer's presence as well as the wards that surround it. Those Mages that have joined the communication forum should have at least visited the computer once in order to be recognised by it. This is to prevent infiltration of the list.
In Character Restrictions:
In order to be granted access to the list a Mage must be a member of good standing within the consilium of Melbourne. This means being accepted by the Hierarch and their Path Councillor.
Once accepted they must "log in" to the AI which involves going into physical contact with the computer "Hand print identification please!" which will then record the Mage's pattern and thought signature so the Mage can then send messages through to the list.
The Mage will then be provided a password in order to access the list via his computer or mobile phone.
There has been talk of researching the possibility of turning this medium into telepathic messaging although the resources have not been allocated to furthering this.
List infiltration Policy:
It is quite difficult for a Mage not of the Consilium of Melbourne to infiltrate this forum. A Mage with a high mastery of Mind magic could theoretically sneak into the room where the mainframe AI is housed, somehow bypass the wards in place as well as the mundane security and then access the mainframe AI pretending to be a member of the consilium.
It is more likely however that a cunning infiltrator would simply access the forum via a mage who has already been granted access and gain knowledge of all messages that way.
The exact approval of Infiltration should be left up to the list moderator and the venue storyteller.
List Banning Policy:
Characters who act against the Consilium of Melbourne and no long are considered in good standing by it should be banned from the list.
List Creation: Domain Coordinators and Independent Coordinators are now responsible for placing list creation requests in their domain report to the National Council.
